EUTR Survey Paper

In September 2012 Chatham House undertook a survey of Competent Authorities (CA) to assess their preparations for implementation of the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR). This was part of a process of analysis and exchange, aimed at supporting the consistent and robust implementation of the EUTR.

The survey aimed to gather data about the process of preparation within each of these national Authorities and to identify gaps in preparation, specific challenges and/or best practice. This has fed into the preparation of two capacity-building workshops for Competent Authorities, which took place in January and February 2013, organised by Chatham House, Client Earth and Interpol, with the support of the European Commission.

This paper provides a summary of the responses, together with some recommendations made on the basis of these.
